How does it work?

Simply attach The Better Opener™ to your badge, grasp the non-beveled edge with your hand and slide the device along the desired surface. Cut away from yourself and keep your other hand clear of the beveled edge to avoid injury. When finished, release the device and it will return to your badge. When opening vacuum-packed positioning devices, choose an area clear of the sealed product and apply the minimum amount of pressure to break the seal. Keep your other hand clear of the beveled edge to avoid injury.

What does it cut?

The Better Opener™ is designed to cut paper or plastic seals on boxes, plastic film, and puncture vacuum-packed positioning products. We do not recommend using The Better Opener™ for cutting corrugated shipping boxes, threaded tape, heavy-duty packing tape, or envelopes.

How do I clean it?

The Better Opener™ can be cleaned with common supplies such as dish soap or rubbing alcohol. Sani-Cloth wipes and bleach are readily available in most hospital settings and can be used as well. Use caution and test a small area when using heavy cleaners or abrasive chemicals as they may fade the logo with repeated use.

Can it be sharpened?

The Better Opener™ comes from the factory with a finely polished sharp edge. After initial use the edge will compact. After repeated uses the bevel will reach a uniform thickness. If used as intended, it will hold this edge and continue to function effectively. We do not recommend using a knife sharpener to attempt resharpening. The product is plastic and metal sharpeners will remove material from the device. Our customers have voiced that the bottom edge becomes sharper when scraping a hard surface. Think: removing all tape from ceiling to floor before a Joint Commission Survey.

Is it recyclable?

Yes. The Better Opener is made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), which falls into the #7 category of recycling. Check your recycling facility’s specific guidelines.
